Rudy was inducted into the SHSAA Hall of Fame in 2009.
Rita and Rudy are the founders of Stoysich House of Sausage, with two locations in Omaha, Nebraska. Rudy Stoysich joined the Marines after graduating from SHS. Completing his training in San Diego, CA and at Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands, his unit received a Presidential Unit Citation for the invasion of Guam. After the unit recaptured Guam, training continued for the Battle of Iwo Jima - returning to Guam once again to prepare for the invasion of Japan. Rita and Rudy were married in 1948. In 1961 they decided to go into the sausage and meat business in South Omaha and have worked side by side 24/7 producing internationally known sausage of superlative quality and excellence. They volunteered to travel all over Europe to teach the business of sausage making. Rita Stoysich recipes have been featured in national publications and she has been voted "Best Cook Ever" by H.C.G . Group (husband, children and grandchildren)! Rudy Stoysich has served on the Packers Bank Board for 25 years, a Director of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce for two years, and President of the South Omaha Industrial Park for ten years. Other community contributions have included serving as President of the South Omaha Merchants Association, Commandant Marine Corp League, Omaha Executives Society; Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; member of South Omaha Eagles (50 years), American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was made an Admiral of the Great Navy of Nebraska in 1977. They have both been active members of St. Stanislaus Church; both have been honored by the Volunteer Overseas Cooperative (a state department agency); the Spirit of America Award from the Grocers Association; the Golden Spike Award; and the MBJ Small Business Award in 1989. |
